Trump details the security incident at the dinner: does not believe the shooting is related to the conflict with Iran
According to Jinshi reports, U.S. President Trump stated in response to a reporter's question that the incident that occurred at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner that day was "completely shocking." He heard a noise but thought it was a tray falling to the ground.
"I was observing the situation at the time," he said, "but his wife reacted faster, seemingly realizing what was happening quickly." Trump expressed his hope to continue holding the dinner and promised to reschedule the dinner date as soon as possible.
Trump stated that he had not received any briefings about threats before the dinner. He also mentioned previous assassination attempts against him and called on the American public to "resolve their differences." He noted that members of both parties condemned the related events that night. Trump also expressed gratitude to media personnel, stating that the media "acted very responsibly in their reporting."
When asked if the shooting incident was related to the conflict with Iran, Trump said, "I don't think so."
