According to The Wall Street Journal, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has filed a lawsuit against the state of New York in the federal district court for the Southern District of New York, seeking a court ruling that the CFTC has exclusive regulatory authority over prediction markets to prevent New York's crackdown.

Previously, New York state had filed lawsuits against the prediction market operations of cryptocurrency exchanges Coinbase and Gemini. Earlier this month, the CFTC also filed lawsuits on similar issues against Arizona, Illinois, and Connecticut, as the jurisdictional disputes between federal and state regulatory agencies continue to escalate.
